LEXUS TRANSPlANT FUE Procedure

At Loria Medical we specialize in Hair Restoration Surgery, specifically providing the LEXUS FUE Procedure, which is a Follicular Unit Extraction Procedure, performed a very special way.

The LEXUS FUE PROCEDURE was developed by Dr. Loria to advance the methods and procedures utilized in Hair Restoration Surgery for several reasons: To increase efficiency in graft harvesting, expedite graft harvest and recipient site placement time, maximize the healing process, and forever eliminate and make obsolete the inferior and widely uses ' strip method'.

Let's review exactly what the differences are between the STRIP METHOD and the LEXUS FUE Procedure. First let's take a close look at the STRIP METHOD

receding hair line

This image shows how the DONOR Hair Follicles are removed with the STRIP METHOD. Note areas #2 and #4. This 'strip' of skin is removed and the scalp is stitched closed. The strip of skin is then dissected – see #5. This dissection process may occur in two ways: 1- dissecting out the 'Follicular Units' or, 2- dissecting groups of follicles randomly. What is the difference in dissection here?

hair LossObserve in this picture a close up of the skin showing the hairs exiting. Note the 'bundling' or 'grouping' of the hairs – in singles, doubles, triples, and some quadruples. These 'groupings' are termed Follicular Units.

Now, let's take a look under the skin to see what these Follicular units look like.

hair transplantNotice how the Hair Follicles tend to group together... these groupings of hair follicles are termed Follicular Units. Now, the Hair Transplant Staff may dissect the Follicular Units out, or simply disregard these groupings and dissect randomly. If they choose to dissect the Follicular Units out, then this process is termed a Follicular Unit Transplant. Note, however, that it is still a STRIP METHOD. Also note that the dissection process is done manually, using a sharp blade or scissor to dissect the hair grafts. As you can see in the image below that manual dissection will result in some amount of trauma to the hair follicles.

What are the results of the STRIP METHOD
regarding healing in the donor area?

Note the long linear scar pattern, and if one has multiple procedures the scars can be disfiguring. Let us shift our discussion to the LEXUS FUE Procedure.

hair replacementThe LEXUS FUE Procedure, which stands for 'Loria's EXcisional Unidirectional Stereoscopically guided Follicular Unit Extraction Procedure', is a very sophisticated and refined FUE technique that ensures safe graft incision and extraction. This technique involves intricate hand eye coordination, meticulous dexterity, stereoscopic experience, skilled follicular extraction removal, rapid placement of follicular units (grafts) to recipient sites, increased Physician direct involvement with patient surgery and efforts (the Physician cutting AND accurately counting ALL the grafts - not technicians) and care - caring for the patient. Hair transplant surgery, in our day and time, has always been an Art as well as a Science - and BOTH of these aspects need application, which will ultimately result in a successful Hair Restoration.

As you can see, Dr. Loria is performing a LEXUS FUE Procedure using a special microscope. Let's take a closer look at the results of this procedure. Below are two before photos and two after photos of the donor immediately after the LEXUS FUE Procedure.

Notice the tiny incision marks? These are all the sites where Dr. Loria removed the Follicular Units. Let's take a real close look. Below, you can see, under high magnification the challenge it is to actually, with precision and accuracy, cut or dissect out the Follicular Units. The LEXUS FUE Procedure makes this happen.

If needed Dr. Loria will take the Follicular Units in a 'band' pattern in the donor area so to conceal where the surgery tool place. This helps certain patients get back to work much faster without visible changes to the donor area. See photo below.

Now let's take a look at the healing of the donor area after the LEXUS FUE Procedure is performed.

Notice that there are no markings to be seen in the back donor area of the scalp on either patient. One patient, on the left is 8 days out from the procedure but the one on the left is only 2 days out. The healing is far superior to the strip method in every way.

Of course after Dr. Loria dissects out all of the donor grafts, these perfectly cut Follicular Units will be placed by experienced medical technicians into the recipient sites.

hair replacementVery few Physicians in the country perform this technique due to the labor intensive nature of the procedure. A Hair Transplant Surgeon prefers the 'Strip Method' to harvest the donor hair due to the ease of donor skin removal. This ought not to be. If there is a superior method for donor removal, which the new FUE methods provide, why are most patients not receiving or being offered the better donor harvesting techniques? I believe this is due to the Physician's desire to take the 'easy' path, which is the Strip Method.

However, Physicians are held to a higher standard and ought not to fall into this temptation. If there is a superior method of donor hair removal, then that should be the standard...but it is not and will not be for decades to come. Why? Because the LEXUS FUE Procedure, or other types of FUE techniques, will not be discussed or even mentioned at all to patients, leaving the patient in the dark about this new and very efficient technique. The Hair Transplant Surgeon knows that you cannot do multiple hair restoration cases in one day, like the strip method allows. What does this mean? Less financial gain for the Surgeon will occur if the FUE method is performed. In addition, the Surgeon is the one who performs the FUE procedure meaning that ALL OF THE GRAFTS are cut by the Surgeon, NOT THE STAFF. This is very labor intensive, which is a major deterrent for Surgeons to embrace this technique.

At Loria Medical, Dr. Loria enjoys performing the LEXUS FUE Technique because of the superior healing in the donor area – NO LONG LINEAR SCAR IN THE DONOR AREA that the Strip Method gives, and more rapid and comfortable healing... and NO STITCHES ARE NEEDED which causes added patient discomfort for weeks. Why even think of having a Strip Method performed when the FUE Techniques are available?

In addition, Dr. Loria knows that most patients are deterred away from the FUE Method because many Surgeons will charge an astronomical amount to perform this technique – not being able to afford it. Dr. Loria keeps his fees very reasonable and most patients that can afford the Strip Method can afford the new LEXUS FUE Technique – which is far superior in every aspect to the Strip Method.

Find out more about the LEXUS FUE Technique and why this procedure is a far superior to the Strip method of donor hair removal. Also learn that this FUE technique, which is performed by Dr. Loria, may cost the same or even less than the standard Strip Method. Why settle for less? Get the facts and the details before making that very important decision... changing your appearance for the rest of your life.
